Who am I and what is an RDN?

My name is Rebecca McCredy and I am the proud owner of Bite into Nutrition. I have been back and forth the last year and a half about starting up a private nutrition counseling service. I started a new job, I got engaged, and recently we bought a house!  So, life has been very busy and several things were put on the back burner. Now that things are starting to settle down, I have been able to focus my free time on my business. I have done hours/days of research, which will be never ending, started classes and transformed my office! Nutrition is something that is very important to me and I am very passionate about informing others about it. There are many misleading diet claims and nutrition advice out there. I will be honest that I do not know everything, or even close to everything, but I will do as much research as possible to ensure that I give accurate, science based information to my clients. This is something that I believe is very important and I know many other RDNs believe is important also.

An RDN is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. This means that we went to an accredited college, completed a dietetic internship and then passed the national dietetic exam. We did not attend a 6 or 8 week online course (not to discredit those people), we put years into our education. We truly understand how the body breaks down food and how that affects your body. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: "Registered dietitian nutritionists, or RDNs, are the food and nutrition experts, translating the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. The expertise, training and credentials that back a registered dietitian nutritionist are vital for promoting positive lifestyle choices."

Bite into Nutrition was developed for people to be able to access nutrition education and counseling from an RDN. I have found that there are limited resources out there, which should not be that case. Everyone should have access to nutrition education if we want to start seeing positive changes in the health of our country. Making nutritious decisions is one of the best things you can do for you body that will have a lasting impact. I cannot stress how important preventive care is and something you can start doing today! It is never too early or never too late to start making changes.
